  • Train highly talented pulmonary medicine specialists for practice in a community-based setting
  • Graduates will have developed
    ◦ A deep and broad knowledge base of epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, pathophysiology, treatment, and prognosis of lung diseases and conditions that affect the lungs
    ◦ Experience in a large variety of clinical settings
    ◦ A high level of skill in basic and advance pulmonary procedures
    ◦ Leadership skills in a variety of settings and tasks

RFUMS Pulmonary Fellowship Pathway

  • Training at multiple sites will enable
    ◦ Development of a large knowledge base of and skills in managing pulmonary patients with a large variety of pulmonary conditions
    ◦ Development of a working understanding of a variety of health care delivery and
    electronic medical record systems
    ◦ An understanding of a variety of pulmonary educators’ perspectives which rounds out an understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in pulmonary medicine
  • Emphasis on high yield, actionable, and practical scholarship
  • Emphasis on effective and compassionate practice of medicine for all patients
  • Large number of pulmonary procedure relevant to pulmonary medicine
